Get Shoving and Making!

with one comment

LSW / S & Myou haven’t heard yet, the fabulous Joshua M. Neff, Steve Lawson and Iris Jastram have created The Shovers and Makers award.

And there is only one way to become a Shover and Maker: declare yourself one.

No one knows what you have been doing all year as well as you do. No one knows what motivates you, what your professional passions are, why you work so hard on behalf of your patrons, clients or co-workers. So only you really know why you are a winner. Please write a quick profile of why you are a winner this year, and it will get published on this site.

Of course I nominated myself and I’m loving reading everyone else’s.  So head over there and declare yourself a Shover and Maker!

Search Flickr by Color

without comments

I came across this cool tool from Idée on Circulation this morning.  It allows you to search Flickr Creative Commons liscensed photos (or photos from Alamy) by clicking on the color or colors you want the photos to have.  You then click on the thumbnail to get the photo and the liscense information.

red

The only down side is the collage doesn’t list the url of the photos it generates so you can’t really use it as a whole and follow the attribution part of CC.

Poll – How many times a day to you check Twitter?

with one comment

Just because I can.  WordPress.com now has an option to create and add polls built right into the post toolbar. Sweet! So I made up a poll.  I’m not planning to do anything with this info, other than probably write a blog post about it.

The web 2.0 thing you build me didn’t work

I came across this cartoon recently and I just love it. I think I had it in both presentations I gave last week. You can seem more like this at Gaping Void.

It’s talk like a pirate day!

with one comment

spotted this over on BaldGeeks’ blog and had to play along ;)

My pirate name is:
Dread Pirate Kidd

Like the famous Dread Pirate Roberts, you have a keen head for how to make a profit. Even though you’re not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. Arr!

Get your own pirate name from piratequiz.com.

Hi-Fi Sci-Fi Library

I’m a little late, but just in case you haven’t seen the latest music video sweeping libraryland. Warning! It’s catchy!  If you want to sing along the lyrics are here.

Thank you to David Lee King and Michael Porter for the tremendous amount of effort they put into making this awesome library related song and video.
